Voting for the 2013 All-Star Game is underway, and the Red Sox are encouraging fans to get out the vote in support of the team.
Fans who vote the maximum of 35 times can also be entered to win a signed jersey by a Red Sox All-Star, as well as tickets to a game and a chance to meet and greet the All-Star player. Voting is underway at http://redsox.com/vote.
Red Sox Nation is also encouraged to use special hashtags on social media to encourage others to vote for the Sox, with such creative combinations as #WakeAndVote for Will Middlebrooks or #DoTheDrew in support of Stephen Drew. Online voting ends July 4 at 11:59 p.m.
Along with Middlebrooks and Drew, David Ortiz, Mike Napoli, Dustin Pedroia, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jonny Gomes and Shane Victorino are on the American League ballot representing the Red Sox. Ortiz leads the team with eight All-Star nominations to his name during his Red Sox career.

David Ortiz was off to a scorching start before a controversial column was published. He then went in a small slump and said the column was not to blame.
After a DL stint and a slow start Drew has settled in nicely
When the Red Sox signed Stephen Drew in the off-season on a one-year deal it drew quite a bit on skepticism from Red Sox Nation. The Sox remembered his older brother J.D. who made $14 million over 5 slightly above average seasons in Boston. Drew was not the type of player that the Red Sox fans generally embrace, particularly...
On April 15, the city of Boston was thrown into chaos after multiple bombs were exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Five days later, Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz spoke to fans before a Red Sox game and uttered the now famous words,
"This is our F-ing city."
Ortiz, who has lived in Boston for nearly a decade, has chosen to move beyond the rousing speeches...
Boston Red Sox right-hander Andrew Bailey threw a successful
bullpen session yesterday and could rejoin the team within a week, according to
Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe.
Bailey threw 25 pitches during the session before the Red
Sox contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. He said he felt fine, as he was watched
by manager John Farrell and pitching coach Juan Nieves...
POW! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!
Your browser does not support iframes. A Tampa Bay Rays fan was hit in the face with a home run ball during Wednesday night's game at Tropicana Field. It happened in the eighth inning as Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks hit the home run to right field. A fan in the front row tried to catch it with his bare hands, but the ball bounced off his hands and directly...
Tropicana Field is full of quirks, and the Red Sox fell victim to one of them on Tuesday night.
Instead of getting back on the right track and cruising to a victory after a first-inning home run by David Ortiz. the Sox sputtered the rest of the way in dropping another game. That makes Boston losers in nine of its last 11 games, as the Red Sox continue to tumble further down the standings...
What’s happening here?
That’s the million-dollar question in Boston right now, as the Red Sox, who began the season in a big way, suddenly find themselves in the midst of a rough patch. Every team goes through some struggles over the course of a 162-game season, but the whole situation has some Sox fans wondering where exactly this team is headed.
Are the Red Sox more like the...
Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz put his effort where his mouth is. He is selling autographed bats with 100-percent of proceeds going to the OneFund.
In the weeks leading up to opening day, Boston was projected for a season of mediocrity in the wake of a 2012 season marred by injury, poor play, and clubhouse disunity.
Amongst the many questions surrounding the Boston club heading into the season included whether newcomer third baseman Will Middlebrooks would build off of his success from last season.
While having a very respectable...
The last time we saw the Tampa Bay Rays, they were sputtering and the Red Sox were riding high. Now, the tables have turned a bit.
The Red Sox are the ones struggling as the two teams meet up on Tuesday night, but Boston still has an edge in the standings over the Rays. That could change quickly if John Lackey can’t help right the ship for the Sox, but all signs point to him being...
Yesterday in a bullpen session, Andrew Bailey threw 25 pitches off the mound without hinder.
This is the first time he has thrown off a real mound since going on the disabled list on May 5th. It is a significant step and Andrew Bailey stated that it all felt normal.
He threw all of his pitches and the Red Sox will have him pitch a simulated game on Thursday before deciding if he...
A rough patch like this was inevitable. The Red Sox were not going to win two out of their three games like they did in April the entire season. that would result in a 108-64 record, which is unrealistic, especially in the American League East.
That being said, this team has allowed their AL East opponents to already gain the ground in just the first two weeks of May. What was once...
The Red Sox knew that there were health issues when they traded for Hanrahan.
Per MLBTR, Buster Olney was on the Mut & Merloni radio show in Boston, and spoke during the interview about the Joel Hanrahan trade. Olney mentioned that the Red Sox, along with “many teams”, were aware that there were health issues with Hanrahan. Olney said that’s why the Pirates didn’t...

Through 38 games this season the Boston Red Sox have struck out 317 times as a team. To really put that into perspective they could potentially break the American League strikeout record of 1,387 for a season. Fortunately the Houston Astros will likely hit that mark before Boston does with there league leading 381 strikeouts already.
5:30 p.m.: The main storyline entering this game is obviously the pitching matchup, which includes two of baseball’s elite lefties. Here’s a look at the guys who will be forced to generate offense against Jon Lester and David Price.
