Trade talks seem to be heating up between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees. The Yanks could pull in Jarrod Washburn and Jose Vidro, while Seattle could get Kei Igawa and perhaps salary relief.

  • What an absurd trade that would be. A solid back of the rotation guy and a former All-Star for a wicked overpaid never-will-be.
  • A solid, overpaid back of the rotation guy and the statistically worst starter in baseball for cheap pitching ($4M per.. Seattle didn't have to pay the ridiculous posting fee) that could still come around.
  • Vidro had a decent year last year and Kei Igawa can't even get minor leaguers out atm. That is still 4 mil that could be tooling around in the minors.
  • Vidro's good average last year was a result of batting second in the lineup. Now that he isn't hitting there he can barely hit .200. He's awful.

I suppose he'll be on the NYY bench though, which is better than him starting. I would be fine with him as a bench player.
