Anyone who has followed the later stages of Curt Schilling's career (like we had a choice) shouldn't be too surprised that the former Phillie announced his retirement today, and even less surprised that he did so on his blog, 38Pitches.

"This party has officially ended. After being blessed to experience 23 years of playing professional baseball in front of the world's best fans in so many different places, it is with zero regrets that I am making my retirement official."

His blog is currently slammed, so we'll just link you to the Boston.com Extra Bases coverage. Schill's career has been over for awhile, but this should put a halt to any further Cubs/Rays nonsense. For now, anyway.
