We all know it.Cashman may know it, but he won't admit it.The Steindolts are playing James Dolan, and don't know a thing. We have to resign ourselves to the fact that this team is below putrid and that, other than pitching prospects, we have nothing.  I mean that.  We have no prospects at all who play positions.  Everyday, someone prays for a " stranger on a white horse " to emerge.  if you hold your breath waiting for this, you die.Maybe, in 3 years, Gary Sanchez can be a catcher for us. Unfortunately, even he has a problem;  he can hit but not catch very well.  Remind you of anyone we recently traded?Mason Williams is not fooling anyone, and nor is Slade Heathcott. Almonte is our best position prospect and he'll soon be hitting .250.  Adams is awful.  Nix is shining at .250 with little power.  There are aging holes everywhere in our line-up.  None of our draft picks will make it to NYC.  Right now, even the Staten Island Yankees are in last place. The Mets trad...

Pineda hits bump in the road

Michael Pineda had been moving along quite well over his first three rehab starts (not including a simulated game) compiling a 0.63 ERA and 11/4 K/BB ratio in 14 1/3 innings. However, he was roughed up in a start with Trenton against the Double- A Binghamton Mets this afternoon. Pineda lasted only three innings, giving up four runs on four hits while surrendering four walks. He...

Alex Rodriguez Is On The Way: What Happens After That?

Anyone following the Yankees can correctly guess what the team's biggest news was yesterday. It wasn't the  end of the five game losing streak. It wasn't Andy Pettitte's two strikeouts, which gave him the most Ks in Yankees franchise history. It also wasn't Joe Girardi winning his 600th game as a Major League manager. The big news, of course, was the announcement...

Cano starting to come alive

When Robinson Cano is going well, he often looks like the best pure hitter in the game. His ability to spray line drives all over the field with ease and with such a pretty swing makes him one of the most enjoyable players to watch. We’re no stranger to his hot streaks; coming down the stretch last season, Cano was on another planet – going 27-for-60 (.491) with three homers...

Preview: Yankees @ Twins (7/2/13)

Game two at Target Field falls on Phil Hughes (3-7, 4.82 ERA) as he takes on Samuel Deduno (4-2, 3.32 ERA) in hopes of keeping the momentum going after last nights 10-4 blowout. Hughes’ last outing was encouraging, holding the Rangers to two runs and five hits in eight innings but he had zero run support, literally zero as the Yankees were shut out. It could be the start of a...

Struggling with command, Michael Pineda may still become the Yankees’ hero in Gotham

Battling command issues over three innings on Sunday, New York Yankees flamethrower Michael Pineda surrendered four runs and four walks in a rehab appearance with Double-A Trenton. Throwing only 32 of 67 pitches for strikes, the 24-year-old Pineda clearly endured the most ineffective outing of his comeback. Nevertheless, consistently hitting 93 mph on the radar, the 6-foot-7, 260...

Rodriguez will work his way up to playing a full nine innings over the course of...

Twins look to push Yankees' losing streak to six

The New York Yankees are looking to put an ugly June behind them in which they finished tied for the third-worst record in baseball. Having Andy Pettitte on the mound to face the Minnesota Twins could help them avoid their first six-game losing streak in six seasons. Pettitte has won his last 10 overall decisions against the Twins and will start Monday night for the visiting Yankees...

A fake Alex Rodriguez Facebook page is calling for July 3 to be ‘National Pray for A-Rod Day’

The fake Facebook page is calling for a day designated for everyone to send prayers up for A-Rod because his feelings are “hurt deeply” after being trashed...

Twins try to solve Yankees riddle once more

What had a chance to be a special night for the New York Yankees' C.C. Sabathia last week instead turned into a disappointing performance. A matchup against the Minnesota Twins could help lift his spirits. Sabathia again goes for career victory No. 200 as he seeks a ninth win in a row over the Twins on Wednesday night at Target Field. Sabathia (8-6, 4.15 ERA) carried a no...

Yankees' skid reaches 5 with 4-2 loss to Orioles

The New York Yankees don't intend to lament their misdeeds during a miserable June. No, they figure the only way to get out the funk they're in is to look ahead to July. Hiroki Kuroda gave up three home runs, and the Yankees couldn't muster a significant clutch hit in a 4-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday night. The defeat was New York's fifth straight and...

Preview: Yankees @ Orioles (6/30/13)

It is up to Hiroki Kuroda (7-5, 2.77 ERA) to salvage a win from the series against Chris Tillman (9-2, 3.72 ERA) and the Orioles. Kuroda has been sharp as of late, posting a 2.53 ERA and holding hitters to a .200 batting average over his last three starts. He last faced the Orioles on May 22 and was abused for five runs and eight hits in just two innings. Tillman ran into trouble...

Yankee Trade Deadline Needs: Third Base

It’s becoming more and more evident everyday that if the Yankees are going to have any chance at succeeding in the playoffs, they’re going to need a offensively sound third baseman to held them achieve their goals. Last night’s starting third baseman, Alberto Gonzalez, gave the Yankees very little to cheer about with his 0-for-4 performance, that included three strikeouts and...
