As feared, David Ortiz's achilles is acting up again and this time, it could sideline him for the remainer of the season.

David Ortiz returned to the lineup on Friday after missing 35 games with a sore achilles. He recorded two hits and two RBI, looking as if he never missed a beat.

But on Saturday, all was not well for the jovial slugger.  Ortiz was out of the lineup with soreness in the same area, leading to speculation that he could be shut down for the remainder of the season.

Now, especially now, we have to think, is this the last that we have seen of David Ortiz in a Red Sox uniform? The Red Sox are doing some incredible house cleaning and their most productive offensive player for a bulk of the season is as good as done in 2012. Are they going to pursue him for another 1-year deal for 2013? Maybe. Right now, we have no idea who the hell will be on the 2013 Red Sox.

This injury is more than just a season-ender, it could be a career ender if it is more severe than they initially thought. I hope it is just a season ended and would personally like to see Ortiz back next season. Again, we don't know what will happen.
