As one of the perks of tossing a no-hitter, Angels righty Jered Weaver got to deliver the Top 10 list for the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Tuesday night from Target Field, where the Twins topped the Halos 5-0. The list was the "Top 10 Signs You Will Never Throw A No-Hitter." Letterman's writers originally wanted the No. 1 sign to be "You pitch for the Mets." The Mets of course are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this season, and still haven’t tossed a no-no. Weaver choose to take the high road, and pass on taking a shot at the Mets. He asked the writers to change No. 1. "I felt bad," Weaver said. "Being a baseball guy, I can't say that." Can you really blame Letterman's staff for taking a shot at the Mets? The team has thrown 35 one-hitters and have six no-hitters tossed against them. They also had seven players toss no-no's after joining new teams (Nolan Ryan X7, Tom Seaver, Mike Scott,...

Game Recap 5/7/12 -- Bailed Out - Angels 8 Twins 3

Jered Weaver seemed to have a bit of a hangover after his no-hitter, leaving the game a little early after completing 6 innings with less than 90 pitches. His command was a little off and he had trouble keeping runners off the basepaths, but like a true ace he didn't let that stop him from limiting the opposing offense to only 1 run off of three hits. His short outing today is...

MLB: Jered Weaver adds to the Age of Gem-less No No's

The television cameras continuously panned to Dave and Gail Weaver during the ninth inning of the Angels-Twins game in Anaheim Wednesday night.  Decked out in generic grey thermals that matched Dave’s frosted hair and goatee, they looked like many other older couples do at baseball games - much more interested in what’s taking place on the field than they are in each other. ...

Dugout Digest - the mystical Lance Lynn

Quick trivia: who leads baseball in wins? It's not Jered Weaver. It's not David Price, Jamies Shields, or Madison Bumgarner. It's not Johnny Cueto, Justin Verlander, Jake Peavy, or Felix Hernandez. No, the MLB leader in wins is...Lance Lynn of the Cardinals, who is 6-0 with a 1.40 ERA. It's funny, though. Despite his undefeated record, microscopic ERA, and nearly...

Handicapping the AL Cy Young Race

Interestingly enough, the American League is often called the more superior league between the two and yet it has a weaker field of Cy Young candidates. It could be the overabundance of hitting in the league or the absence of two teams in comparison with the NL’s 16. Either way, the path seems to be clear for a few candidates to make a run at the award. Jered Weaver–...
