Last night, the Mets were dealt a big blow in the bottom of the tenth inning when third baseman David Wright left the game against the Royals in the bottom of the 10th inning, after coming up lame trying to run out a grounder to second base. As he crossed first base, Wright grabbed his right leg while grimacing in pain. As he limped and hopped on one leg, manager Terry Collins and a trainer immediately came out to attend to him and removed him from the game. Righthander Zack Wheeler replaced Wright as a pinch runner. The Mets later announced that Mike Baxter would be heading to New York and will likely be activated if Wright is placed on the disabled list after his MRI this morning. Wright had been nursing a sore hamstring that became apparent in the game against Miami on Wednesday, when Wright stole second base and then clutched his right leg and was in obvious discomfort. He received treatment after that game, but downplayed the severity of it.. “I can play through this,” Wright told
