Found July 29, 2013 on The Majors Detroit:
Aside from the Tigers decimating the Phillies 12-4 Sunday completing the three game sweep the other big story to come out of yesterday’s game was Miguel Cabrera getting tossed by home plate umpire Chad Fairchild. The incident occurred during the third inning during a bases loaded one out situation with the Tigers down 1-0 and the best hitter on the planet at the plate. Cabrera took a strike one call that looked as though he didn’t quite agree with before stepping back into the batters box to continue his at bat. It was during the second strike call that Cabrera once again stepped out of the box, muttered something the Fairchild who promptly ejected Cabrera to an amazed Comerica Park crowd. Now Cabrera’s toss from the game came under tremendous speculation considering the apparent calm demeanor Cabrera had at the plate. Immediately Rod Allen and Mario Impemba pointed out during the FSD broadcast that Fairchild was the same umpire who ejected Luke Putkonen a couple weeks ago for thro...

Migeul Cabrera, “HE’S OBVIOUSLY THE BEST”

The best pitcher on the Tigers’ staff got it right. “HE’S OBVIOUSLY THE BEST”, Scherzer contends. Not just “one of” the best;  the BEST all around hitter anywhere, period. This guy was on the bench nursing a hip flexor injury for 4 games, and in his very first at-bat on the very first pitch he cranks a homerun in support of his team who went on to win. Miguel has the...

Detroit Tigers heating up, trade deadline approaching

There’s about to be a sigh of relief in the state of Michigan. The Tigers are starting to look like the dominant team they were supposed to be. With less than 100 hours left until the trade deadline, the Tigers are 7-3 since the All-Star Break and sit 14 games above .500, with a three-game lead over the Cleveland Indians. That was the big inhale for the sigh of relief. The beginning...

Miguel Cabrera Ejected by Chad Fairchild in The Third Inning of Detroit Tigers game

Update: MLB.com elected to remove the ability to embed the video of Miguel Cabrera’s ejection after previously allowing the option. It can be viewed at MLB.com. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the third inning of the Detroit Tigers’ series finale with the Philadelphia Phillies, Miguel Cabrera took exception to back-to-back strike calls and home plate umpire...

DETROIT Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was ejected Sunday afternoon for questioning consecutive called strikes from home plate umpire Chad Fairchild, who then also quickly tossed Tigers manager Jim Leyland for his spirited protest. Theres some bad blood between the Tigers and Fairchild, who on July 11 also ejected Leyland after tossing Detroit reliever Luke Putkonen for...

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera still bothered by hip

The good news is he's playing.  The bad news is his hip still hurts.  Miguel Cabrera, who was thrown out of yesterday's game for arguing, is battling lingering soreness in his hip.  He was able to avoid the DL when he first injured the hip, but he may need additional rest here and there. Matthew Mowery of the Detroit Free Press relayed manager Jim Leyland's comments...

The reigning Triple Crown winner is batting third and playing third base for Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He's hitting a major league-best .358 with 31 home runs and 96 RBIs. Detroit outfielder Torii Hunter is also back after...

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera aggravates hip injury

It would be a shame to see an injury slow Miguel Carbrera down, but that's exactly what may be happening here in the second half of the season.  Cabrera has been battling a hip strain that caused him to miss four consecutive games last week.  Yesterday, the injury flared up again. Cabrera aggravated the hip in the fifth inning, but he played through the pain.  After the...

Miguel Cabrera Is A Lefty, According To SportsCenter Photoshop

ESPN used the above graphic to promote the SportsCenter highlights of the Nationals-Tigers game with this graphic of Stephen Strasburg and Miguel Cabrera. For some reason or another, the graphics team decided Miggy, the league’s best right-handed hitter, would be better served as a lefty. So then, and once again, for some reason we can’t really think of, they photoshopped this...

Phillies Destroyed By Tigers Again, Go 1-8 on Road Trip

On Sunday, I watched some of the ugliest baseball since the mid-to-late-1990′s. Midre Cummings, Tony Longmire, and Kevin Sefcik were not in Detroit. Instead, the 2013 Phillies were in attendance, and they got spanked by the Tigers, 12-4. I look at this season like an 18-wheeler with no brakes headed down the side of a mountain. You’re not sure what’s going to stop it. Will...
