He has struggled ever since signing this contract. Byrnes has been terrible. His plate patience has completely gone away, and he is so frustrated he is over swinging at everything. In his first at bat last night he worked the count to 3-1, then swung and missed twice at ball four. His next at bat he came up with the bases loaded and no one out, and grounded into a double play. Later that night he came up with the bases loaded again, and grounded out to the shortstop. Something is wrong here. He may never be as good as $10 million a year, but he is not this bad.
