Two years ago Mike Carp was one of the Mets top prospects and many thought when Delgado moved on he was the heir apparent. Carp had a miserable 2007 where he was hampered by injuries and the team was dissatisfied with his conditioning. Carp had a solid 2008 in which he hit .299 with a .471 Slg. pct. in Binghamton and was an all-star his detractors will say thats a result of repeating a level, while others will say he's back on track. The Mets appear to be part of the detractors, not only has he been surpassed by Nick Evans and Dan Murphy but if three first base prospects weren't enough they drafted Ike Davis with a first round pick.Meanwhile Carp is once again considered a top prospect by some experts. John Sickel just completed his top 100 prospects list and the Mets had a solid showing with four players. You could figure that F-Mart and Jon Niese would be there, then Flores the youngster has been all the buzz of the system but then there is Carp once again a top prospect.....
