The Padres lost game 1 of the series in Arizona by a score of 6-1 bringing their record to 59-72, 18 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. The final score doesn’t look that good but the game was not without intrigue: Reymond Fuentes made his major league debut in center field. In his first at-bat he hit a hard chopper and showed off his legs, nearly beating it out. I missed the rest of his at-bats though because I had to watch the most recent episode of Breaking Bad which, incidentally, blew my mind. As I switched back to the game and saw the scoreline at 6-1 in the 7th inning, I didn’t feel so bad – and then I turned on Dexter. I’m a terrible fan.
