Dayan Viciedo doubled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning and the Chicago White Sox rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Tuesday. Paul Konerko hit a game-tying homer and scored three runs as the White Sox won for just the second time in eight games. Matt Lindstrom (1-0) got one out for the win and Addison Reed finished for his fifth save in as many opportunities. Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind hit consecutive singles off Reed to begin the ninth, just the second and third hits he's allowed this season. Brett Lawrie followed with a sacrifice fly, but Reed got Rajai Davis and Maicer Izturis to fly out. Colby Rasmus and J.P. Arencibia hit solo home runs for the Blue Jays, who couldn't hold on after taking a 2-1 lead in the sixth. Facing reliever Steve Delabar, Adam Dunn walked to begin the ninth and was replaced by pinch runner Dewayne Wise. Konerko followed with a walk and Conor Gillaspie struck out before Viciedo drove in Wise with a double over the head of...

Adam Dunn’s Failed Experiment

Adam Dunn arrived in the Major Leagues in 2001. Since then, he has led the major leagues in both walks (1,172) and strikeouts (2,046) and is third in home runs (408), and his career stands as something of the perfect example of the Three True Outcomes. Of the 7,256 times he’s walked up to the plate, 3,702 of those PAs (51%) have ended without defensive involvement. Dunn has...

Could Munenori Kawasaki Become A Fixture On The Toronto Blue Jays?

The Toronto Blue Jays signed infielder Munenori Kawasaki on the 02nd of March during spring training without any fan fare or media attention. Kawasaki had played 61 games for the Seattle Mariners batting under the Mendoza line after a successful career in the Japan Pacific League where he won two Gold Glove awards. Kawasaki was assigned to Triple A without much thought as minor league...

Heath Optioned; Danks Promoted

In wake of Gordon Beckham's injury, the White Sox called up called up reliever Duente Heath from AAA Charlotte last Friday to help eat up some innings with the bullpen being used heavily early on. Just a handful of days later, with the staff now more rested, the team has sent Heath back down to Charlotte and called up lefty hitter and utility outfielder, Jordan Danks. ...

Brett Lawrie's move to second base will help with Jose Reyes' injury

How do you overcome an injury to your superstar shortstop?  Shift another potential superstar to second base, let the dominoes fall around him, and hope it works.  Brett Lawrie is not quite on the same level as Jose Reyes.  He still has to prove himself further, and this may be his shot.  The Toronto Blue Jays are shifting Lawrie to second base temporarily to help ease the...

Toronto Blue Jays Showing Creativity With Lineup

On Sunday, we heard that Brett Lawrie was playing 2B for Single-A Dunedin so the Jays can see how he looks at the bag in order to determine if he can indeed play the #4 position on the big league club. This move intrigued me quite a bit. I have no doubt that he could do it and make a successful transition considering how much of an athlete he is AND he started playing there in Milwaukee’s...

Blue Jays 4, White Sox 3

Mark Buehrle pitched in and out of trouble into the seventh inning to beat his former team , J.P. Arencibia and Maicer Izturis hit solo homers and the Toronto Blue Jays topped the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Monday night. Arencibia went deep in the first and Izturis connected to begin the second as the Blue Jays opened a seven-game homestand with their third victory in four games....

Jose Reyes Was Key to Blue Jays Success

When the Toronto Blue Jays lost Jose Reyes until at least the All-Star break this weekend, a lot of other things were lost as well.  The Jays were attempting to recreate what the Miami Marlins started last offseason when they signed every available free agent.  Most, if not everyone believed it would work and we all know how it ended.  In the middle of last season, the Dodgers...
