The White Sox recalled Leury Garcia from Triple-A Charlotte before Thursday night's game against the Kansas City Royals to provide some depth for their infield.
Leury takes the roster spot of outfielder Blake Tekotte, who was optioned to Charlotte.
The White Sox needed some depth in their infield with third baseman Jeff Keppinger dealing with a stiff lower back. Keppinger was a late scratch from the lineup Tuesday night and did not play Wednesday night. Conor Gillaspie has been paying in his place.
Garcia was part of the deal that sent Alex Rios to the Rangers. He hit .192 in 52 games for Texas before the deal, and can play second base, third base and shortstop.
