A day after signing both Adam Dunn and A.J. Pierzynski, the White Sox have traded reliever Scott Linebrink to the Atlanta Braves for minor league pitcher Kyle Cofield, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Linebrink didn’t pitch very well in a White Sox uniform. He had some good outings here and there, but overall his numbers were above his career average (especially the past 2 seasons). Linebrink was 3-2 with a 4.40 ERA last season in 52 games. The White Sox had been looking for someone to finally take him off their hands, and they finally found a suitor.

In return, the White Sox get minor league pitcher Kyle Cofield. Cofield pitched in both the rookie level and double-A levels last season and didn’t fare too well. He went 1-4 with a 4.47 ERA in 20 games. Expect Cofield to stay somewhere around the double-A level come next season.
