Sunday the Red Sox send Daniel Bard to Double A Portland, making room for Joel Hanrahan to return from the disabled list. It was a short stint for Daniel Bard and he only provided one inning of relief, giving up both a hit and a run. He was not really ready for the Majors as he had only eight appearances in Portland so far, but he was healthy and that was enough. Joel Hanrahan was on the disabled list since April 14th with a strained hamstring after several sub-par efforts. Word on the street is that Joel Hanrahan worked a scoreless inning of relief at Triple A Pawtucket and his fastball was being clocked consistently at 96 mph. It is not clear if he will be working in the closer roll right away as Andrew Bailey saved five out of six games while filling in for Joel Hanrahan. This was done over eight innings where he rang up 13 hitters while giving up only two runs. I like this development, with choices for the manager we can expect both will be doing their in every relief effort. I
