Will Allen Craig stay healthy in 2013? Image courtesy of Getty Images. Sometimes you have to use the spaghetti method in fantasy baseball. You throw a couple guys at a position and see which one sticks. I think I’ll do this with first base this year. First base isn’t as deep in years past, at least in terms of sure bets. Instead, there are a half dozen young first basemen who could hit 25-30 home runs, but each player brings their own risk, whether it be injury concerns, small sample sizes, or batting average concerns. Do you go with Ike Davis, Paul Goldschmidt, Chris Davis, or Freddie Freeman? Then there are two more who could be added to that list: Allen Craig and Anthony Rizzo. Considering that what you could project from these two is eerily similar, who’d you rather have as your fantasy baseball first baseman? Allen Craig When Allen Craig swings at the ball, he hits it, no matter what type of pitch it is (OK, he struggles a tiny bit against change ups, but we’ve all been there)....

Help young Cardinals by being a host family in Peoria
A major benefit of minor league baseball is the close interaction fans can enjoy with players. Some individuals can take that personal involvement to an even higher level by opening up their homes and become host families for players.
Minor leaguers are young, relatively low-paid and usually assigned at the last moment to an unfamiliar outpost far away from home. It is especially...

St. Louis Cardinals better equipped to absorb injuries in 2013
The St. Louis Cardinals took the field June 10, 2012 against the Cleveland Indians with seven of their projected starters on the disabled list and Matt Holliday on the bench with a minor injury. Not surprisingly, the team was mired in an 11-19 slump. But the Cardinals might be better prepared to handle a similar rash of injuries in 2013.

Colby Rasmus: Former Cardinals centerfielder tries his hand at curling
Former St. Louis Cardinals centerfield Colby Rasmus was one of the most scrutinized players in recent memory during his days in St. Louis. Fans did not understand the kid's laid back attitude and balked at his perceived laziness in centerfield.
Now that he is a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, Rasmus is evidently doing his best to ingrain himself in Canadian culture. The...

MLB free agents 2013: Could Kyle Lohse follow Kyle McClellan to Texas?
Former St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Lohse is still looking for a new home. It has been a long winter for the free agent, who was planning on cashing in big after a second consecutive spectacular season. 2013 Cardinals Top 10 Composite Prospect List
Each year I like to compile a composite prospect list, taking the top prospects lists from across the web, assigning points to each ranking and then using these points to create a composite ranking. I do this each February for the top 100 prospects in baseball, which can be found at my MLB Composite Prospect Index site and I also do it for my favorite team, the Cardinals.
