Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
This year the Mets will be opening up their new ballpark, Citi/Taxpayer field. The Mets have released some of their Ticket Plans which I have posted for your viewing pleasure. The problem I have with the plans like many, are that they are so God Damn expensive and the seating available with the plans suck.
The days that we can loge seats (which were good seats) for 8 games are over. Now you must buy at least 15 games to satisfy your Mets craving and in the nose-bleeds of the park. The prices now range from $285-$600 per person, as the economy is in recession and many fight to keep their jobs. How many average hard working people are going to pay $600 per person for seats, not many...I know, I won't.
Another problem I have with the Mets is why they are getting so cheap in pursuing players to fill the roster this off-season. I know that baseball is a business, but as fans are entitled to see a good product for such a large price. If the Mets fans had it their way , they would rather see Manny Ramirez in left field, Oliver Perez back in the rotation and K-Rod in the pen closing out games in 2009. The Mets Fans want to see stars, not second rate shit.
The Mets economy plan does not buy into that system, as they say they only have $30-40 Million to play with because they have to pay Billy Wagner's $10.5 Mil (who is injured), Willie Randolph's $2.5 Mil (who was fired), and all the others that have guaranteed deals extended into 2009. They now might be looking to cheaper alternatives in the starting rotation, closer and in the outfield because free agent players want to be paid good money to play in New York City. The Mets have made some bad financial decisions in the past and the Mets Fans have to pay for it. We might be stuck seeing Luis Castillo at 2B (who sucks) and no one wants, someone who is not named K-Rod in the pen and maybe a Jon Garland as a starter. Does that excite you?
Even after two collapses, the Mets ownership knows people will come to the new ballpark and pay. Even people who are not Mets fans want to see what the hub-bub is about. So it's a win-win situation for the Mets ownership, anyway you look at it.
It just pisses me off that the Yankees will be opening up a new stadium and pay the big bucks for their players, while the Mets cut out coupons for theirs..Where is the justice!

When the New York Mets placed Bonilla on unconditional waivers in 2000, they agreed to pay out the remainder of his contract by deferring the remaining $5.9 million, instead giving him 25 equal payments of $1,193,248.20 each July 1 from 2011 to 2035, for a total of $29,831,205.[3]
