Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Wil Myers has won the American League Rookie of the Year. Myers hit .293/.354/.478 after being called up on June 16th and helped lead the Rays to a Wild Card berth in the playoffs. Myers also hit 13 home runs with 50 runs. He gained 23 votes out of 30 for the AL rookie of the year. He led all American League rookies with 23 doubles and 36 extra base hits while getting on base at a .354 clip. He was also tied with 160 total bases for the most of any AL rookie. Myers added 53 runs batted in on the season. He is the third Ray to ever win the award along with third baseman Evan Longoria and starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson, who are both still on the team. Myers got 131 points through the voting point system where first place receives five points, while the next closest player, Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias, had 80 points.
