In Australian Baseball League action from today, three Pirates players were in the starting lineup for Adelaide, as they rolled to a 6-1 victory. Stefan Welch collected the only hit of the group, going 1-for-4, with a walk. Justin Howard went 0-for-3, also drawing a walk. Dylan Child was behind the plate again, going 0-for-2, with a sacrifice bunt. He threw out one of the three attempted base stealers on the night. Welch, along with pitcher Zac Fuesser, will take part in the ABL All-Star game tomorrow. In action from the Dominican from last night, Alen Hanson picked up his first hit of the Winter League season. He came in as a pinch-hitter during the eighth inning with his team down 10-1 and picked up a single to right field. Hanson would come around to score his third run of the DWL season. He remained in the game at shortstop and was able to bat again in the ninth, this time striking out to end the game. In eight games this year, he is 1-for-7, with a walk and a stolen base. Anderson Hernandez continued his hot streak, going 3-for-5, falling a home run short of the cycle. Hernandez drove in two runs and scored two more. He now has a .301 average on the season and has hit .386 in his last ten games. Hernandez has reached base 67 times in 44 games this year while driving in 21 runs. In Puerto Rico, Benji Gonzalez got his first start since last Friday, going 0-for-3 on the night. In 14 games this year, he is 7-for-26, with five walks and four runs scored. In Venezuela, Ryan Reid picked up his sixth save, setting down the side in order. Reid recorded two outs on the ground, giving him a 4.50 GO/AO ratio after 17.1 innings in the VWL. He has a 2.60 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
