The Reds are now without a left-handed bat off the bench. The club activated Miguel Cairo from the disabled list before Monday's game. To clear a roster spot, Cincinnati outrighted Willie Harris to Class AAA Louisville. Harris was the only left-handed hitter on the bench, but he's struggled so badly that the Reds kept Todd Frazier at Harris' expense. Frazier took Cairo's spot when Cairo went on the disabled list April 17 due to a strained left hamstring. Frazier is 7-for-18 (.389) with a home run, two doubles and two triples since the promotion. Harris was 3-for-35 (.086) with two doubles and one RBI when he got sent out. It was a matter of production. "That's what it boiled down to," manager Dusty Baker said. "We hoped Willie would have done better in his limited action. Cairo was coming off the DL. The organization had to make a move with somebody. We hope (Harris) accepts the assignment. We're probably going to need him somewhere down the line. "We hope he goes down and gets his stroke together and comes back and helps us." Cairo went 0-for-10 during a three-game rehab assignment with low Class A Dayton. He doubled and drove in a run in his first at-bat back Monday in the Reds' 6-1 win over Milwaukee. NOTES, QUOTESBruce goes deep -- very deep --RF Jay Bruce hit his ninth home run of the year Monday. It cleared everything in right-center field and traveled an estimated 463 feet. His farthest ever? "I don't know," Bruce said. "Definitely close. That's easily as good as I can hit one." Bruce extended his hitting streak to 10 games. --C Ryan Hanigan, who went 2-for-4, has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. The Reds are 13-4 in games Hanigan starts. --RHP Logan Ondrusek pitched 1 13 scoreless innings to extend his scoreless streak to 13 13 innings. He stranded two baserunners, making him 12-for-13 on stranding inherited runners this season. --2B Brandon Phillips went 2-for-4 with a double. He entered the game in a 2-for-24 slump. "It was good to see Brandon swing the bat well," manager Dusty Baker said. --RHP Bronson Arroyo went 6 23 innings and allowed one run on six hits while getting the win at Milwaukee. He walked one and struck out a season-high nine. "He had it working," manager Dusty Baker said. "In and out, up and down. He had that good breaking ball." BY THE NUMBERS: 2.39 -- The Reds' team ERA in the last 16 games. Cincinnati is 11-5 in that span. QUOTE TO NOTE: "Sure, I was hoping (Ryan) Braun was going to sit out. I've never been one to be sad that the perennial (top) players in the National League sit out against me. It was nice to get against some of the guys who haven't been playing all year for them." -- RHP Bronson Arroyo, on facing the injury-riddled Brewers. ROSTER REPORTMEDICAL WATCH: --LHP Bill Bray (strained left groin) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 19. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Louisville on April 29, but he moved back to extended spring training in Goodyear, Ariz., after one outing. He pitched an extended spring game May 4. --RHP Nick Masset (right shoulder inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 26. He had an MRI of his arm April 25, and he could be cleared to throw in early May. --RHP Ryan Madson (Tommy John surgery in April 2012) went on the 60-day disabled list April 4. He is out for the season.
