The Mets have announced that David Wright will be activated from the 15-Day Disabled List prior to tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Wright has been on the disabled list since August 3rd with a grade two tight hamstring strain. The Mets’ captain has hit 17 home runs at Citizens Bank Park during his career, the second-most in any visiting ballpark. (He has connected on 18 home runs at Atlanta’s Turner Field) Wright also has 58 career RBI in Philadelphia, the most in any visiting city. Sounds like perfect timing to me… Original Post Terry Collins told reporters that he expects David Wright to be activated from the disabled list when the Mets play the Phillies this weekend. Over the weekend I wrote that I’d bet anything Wright would be back in the lineup for the Giants series. Obviously I’m much better off playing mobile slots than I am at betting on when players return from injury. Wright continues to work his way back form a strained hamstring ...

David Wright and Daniel Murphy hit solo home runs and the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 in a game called in the top of the seventh inning because of rain. The teams played in the rain before the game was halted, and it was called after a delay of 1 hour, 28 minutes. Wright connected for the third consecutive game, and second straight day since returning from...

Mets' Wright back from DL, homers in 1st at-bat

David Wright is back in the New York Mets lineup for the first time in more than a month and is already making an impact. Wright was activated Friday from the disabled list before the Mets faced the Philadelphia Phillies and hit a two-run homer in the first inning in his first at-bat since he strained his right hamstring on Aug. 2 against the Kansas City Royals. He was placed on...

Wright Expected To Return This Weekend In Philly

Terry Collins told reporters that he expects David Wright to be activated from the disabled list when the Mets play the Phillies this weekend. David Wright Delivers For Mets In Return; Matsuzaka Continues To Disappoint

The New York Mets got what they hoped for Friday night in David Wright’s return, but remain wanting with Daisuke Matsuzaka. Backed by Wright’s first-inning homer, the Mets gave Matsuzaka a 5-0 lead, but he gave up four runs in the fourth inning. Never mind two of the runs were unearned, but a pitcher’s job is to pitch out of trouble. Matsuzaka not only didn’t escape trouble...

Returning David Wright hits home run in first at-bat as Mets defeat Phillies

After missing seven weeks with a strained right hamstring David Wright was asked how he would handle facing big-league pitching for the first time since Aug. 2. The Mets captain shrugged and admitted he did not expect much in his first game back. He should have raised the bar. In his first at-bat on the second pitch he saw from Phillies lefty Cole Hamels Wright crushed a two-run...

Mets' David Wright is on schedule for return

New York Mets' third baseman David Wright has been on the disabled list since August 3 and his return to the lineup appears to be right on schedule. As reported by Anthony DiComo and Chris Iseman of MLB.com, Wright went through running and fielding drills on consecutive days for the first time on Wednesday. He's been putting forth full effort during the drills, but...

Wright homers again in Mets' rain-shortened 5-4 win over Phillies

David Wright launched a home run for the second straight night and Dillon Gee was credited with his third career complete game in the Mets’ rain-shortened 5-4 win over the Phillies Saturday night. The game was stopped with one out in the top of the seventh inning after rain had been falling at Citizens Bank Park for a couple of innings. After an hour and 20 minutes the game was...

Wright Goes Deep, Bats Come Alive In Mets 6-4 Victory

The Mets wasted no time getting things going in the top of the first. Eric Young doubled to lead off the game. Young stole second and was driven in by Daniel Murphy, and before Cole Hamels had recorded an out it was 1-0. David Wright then clubbed a homer to the opposite field and it was 3-0 before the Phillies had an at bat. After a quiet second, the Amazins struck again in the third...

Phillies lose to Mets in rain-shortened game

The way the Phillies were building momentum, they might have won Saturday night had the rain not gotten in their way. David Wright and Daniel Murphy hit solo home runs and the New York Mets beat Philadelphia 5-4 Saturday night in a game called in the top of the seventh inning because of rain. ''It's a tough way to take a loss, a rain-shortened game,'' Philadelphia...

There's not much to talk about with the Mets tonight

The New York Mets are 68-84, long eliminated from the playoff race, and there's nothing left to talk about with the team this year with Matt Harvey on the shelf and David Wright banged up (but getting in the lineup tonight). But hey, let's talk about Daisuke Matsuzaka's shoes, because...why not? [H/T JoeandEvan]
