Found October 25, 2011 on Ranger Fans:
This was a really bizarre game. But I can say this. It was one of the most stressful games I've watched in awhile. CJ Wilson was dancing with trouble the whole time he was out there, but didn't really break. He made it into the sixth throwing 108 pitches. But he allowed four hits, and five walks. Granted, two of the walks were intentional to Pujols, but still. You always felt he was on the verge of giving up 5 runs, but he never did. Gave up two, although one was unearned. Alexi Ogando wasn't a whole lot better. He only pitched one inning, but allowed two hits and three walks, but no runs. Go figure that one. :) He too was teetering like Ceej was, but nothing happened run wise. All told, the Rangers gave up nine walks, although four of them were intentional. Three to Pujols, and one to Berkman. The errors. There were two official errors, and a few other plays that probably should have been, but weren't according to the official rules. Given...

Should teams worry about C.J. Wilson?

The Rangers' ace will arguably be the best arm available in free agency this winter, but following a lackluster postseason, should teams be weary of giving him a hefty payday?

The Best Game 6 Offensive Performances of All-Time

Last Saturday night, Albert Pujols treated us to an unparalleled display of power.  His 5-for-6 performance, which included three home runs, six RBI, and 14 total bases, produced a RE24 of 5.808, the highest in World Series history. To help pass the time until tomorrow night’s game, I thought that it would be interesting to examine the best Game Six offensive performances in World...

Albert’s Call

Albert Pujols did call the hit and run play in the seventh. Cards manager Tony La Russa opened his press conference today by defending Albert Pujols, who called for a failed hit-and-run on his own in the seventh inning of the team’s 4-2 loss in Game 5. “That player gets a lot of leeway and ability to be involved based on how he reads what’s going on. Albert has...

Cardinals' Pujols has power to make in-game calls

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Some of the best basestealers in baseball have the green light to run whenever the opportunity presents itself.Albert Pujols has the green light to send them.Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday the star first baseman has earned the authority and responsibility to call for a ...

Team Fielding Series: Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are on the verge of winning their first World Series title as I write this. Most focus on their potent offensive attack and rightfully so. In terms of depth, we haven’t seen an offense this good in quite some time. Yet, their pitching has been solid as well without the benefit of an established ace. When people look back, they may throw that tag on C.J. Wilson...

Defending Intentional Walks

I am no fan of the intentional walk. Not only is it usually poor strategy (there are very few situations when it is even a good play to give Albert Pujols a free pass), but I also tend to agree with those who think that the intentional walk is contrary to the “spirit of the game.” There are some interesting suggestions out there on how it might be “banned”...

La Russa has long molded Cardinals in his image

Albert Pujols' pending free-agency isn't the only franchise-changing negotiation awaiting the St. Louis Cardinals once the World Series concludes. Manager Tony La Russa is also on the docket regarding a 17th year on the Cardinals' bench. He and the organization hold a mutual option for next season on a deal signed a little more than a year ago.

The Question of Prince Fielder...

As we inch closer to the end of the World Series and the official start of the off-season, we all know the Orioles need to plug in several holes. Whether the team gets that accomplished this winter, or in the years to come -- who knows; however, a lot of fans already have dreams of seeing Price Fielder or Albert Pujols in the black and orange. I see neither happening. In fact...
