Tyler Clippard - who made his Yankee debut in spectacular fashion this past season against the Mets - has been dealt to the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handed reliever Jonathan Albaladejo, according to the Washington Post. The 6-5, 250 pound 25-year-old has seen limited time in the majors, but posted a 1.88 ERA in 14.1 innings of work during a callup with the Nats this past September.
Clippard, meanwhile, will look to dominate the Mets on a more consistent basis as he seeks to crack a paper-thin Washington rotation. Clippard is the type of guy that will look a lot better pitching for the Washington Nationals than the New York Yankees. On the surface, this appears to be a solid, if minor move for both clubs.
