New York Yankees (Photo credit: Keith Allison) The New York Yankees swept the Toronto Blue Jays right out of the Bronx. It was the best outcome that honestly, I didn’t think the Yankees had in them but they proved me wrong. Beating the AL East leading Blue Jays in three games cut the Yankees deficit to just a game and a half back to catching Toronto. And getting three wins at Yankee Stadium finally has the Bronx Bombers to playing .500 at home (16-16). This series was the first time all season that I have seen the Yankees gel as a whole. Without question the pitching was the MVP, as Tanaka, Christy, Phelps, Betances, Robertson and Warren all were darn close to perfect. And the Yankees bats miraculously scored 16 runs, considering they left 26 guys on base and were 8 for 30 with RISP. So excited over Beltran's walk-off, The Master forgot to warble

If you went to bed last night fantasizing about John Sterling's Win Warble - expecting a Godzillian, 7.00-second, shark-nado of vocalization and joy - you'd be surprised. In the aftermath of Carlos Beltran's walk-off off home run, The Master gave no warble, none. He even sort of flubbed Beltran's home run call.Ladies and gentleman, let it be known that John Sterling...

Alex Rodriguez reportedly drops lawsuit against New York Yankees team doctor

It’s easy to forget, but there’s a guy who used to so dominate Major League Baseball headlines to such an alarming — and annoying — degree that it seemed like sports fans were powerless against being pulled into the inescapable gravitational pull of his unchecked ego, shameless narcissism and often-enraging cockiness. That man? Alex Rodriguez. […] The post Alex Rodriguez...

New York Yankees: Enough of Vidal Nuno

Vidal Nuno has appeared in 14 games and started 11 for the New York Yankees this season, and I think we’ve seen enough. Nuno, 26, is 1-3 in those games with an abysmal 5.90 ERA. For pitchers who have thrown at least 60 innings, that’s the worst ERA in the American League. He’s given up 12 home-runs in 61 innings, and opponents are hitting a staggering .293 against him. With...

Yankees game 70: McCann can come up big

(Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images) Toronto Blue Jays 3 — New York Yankees 7 Brian McCann was a key contributor in this big divisional matchup. After a scoreless first inning by Chase Whitley, the Yankees looked to score early against 10-game winner Mark Buehrle. Brett Gardner would lead off with a single and Derek Jeter would reach base on an error by third baseman Brett Lawrie...

Preview: Yankees vs Orioles (6/20/14)

The Yankees continue their AL East gauntlet with Hiroki Kuroda (4-5, 4.32 ERA) taking on Ubaldo Jimenez (2-8 4.86 ERA) and the O’s. Kuroda’s last start in Oakland was delayed 38 minutes in the middle of the game due to lights going out at O.co. He allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings taking the loss. Kuroda and Jimenez faced off the first time Baltimore and the Yanks saw each...

Yankees Injury Update: Carlos Beltran status

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday by the score of 6-4. The win improved the Yankees to 38-33, just a game and a half behind the Blue Jays in the American League East. Derek Jeter, Jacoby Ellsbury and Mark Teixeira each had two hits for the Yankees. Carlos Beltran added a double and two RBI in the winning effort. There is some news on Beltran, as...

WATCH: Beltran Blasts Three-Run Walk-Off Home Run

Yankees designated Carlos Beltran earned in his pinstripes in walk-off fashion Friday night. In the bottom of the 9th inning with the Yanks down 3-2 and two outs against the Baltimore Orioles, Beltran blasted a three-run walk-off home run to give NY the lead. The team erupted as soon as Beltran hit it into the left-center seats. Here is Beltran’s walk-off shot: Your browser does...

Did Brett Gardner cost himself $100M by passing on free agency?

When Brett Gardner agreed to a four-year extension worth $52 million with the Yankees during spring training, the left fielder said he didn’t mind giving up the opportunity to become a free agent after the season. Even now that he’s keeping pace with Jacoby Ellsbury in virtually every offensive category — if not exceeding him — Gardner hasn’t changed his outlook. “Not...

Ripley's 2014 Almost Mid-Season Believe It Or Nots

The Yankees have one and only one player in the top 40 WARs of the AL. That man is Brett Gardner, with a WAR of 2.2.Coincidentally, that is exactly the WAR of his former teammate, Robinson Cano! While the American League BA top 40 boasts the eye-confounding names Yangveris Solarte, Xander Bogaerts, and Yoenis Cespedes......the "Senior Circuit" has only ADEINY HECHAVARRIA...

The Vidal Nuno Era may be coming to an end

Think of it this way: The Yankees brought up a middling, middle-innings reliever from Scranton - Chase Whitley - and he's pitched far better than Nuno.If Nuno doesn't pitch well Saturday, why not roll the dice again?

A-Rod drops lawsuit vs. Yanks doctor, goes 0-for-3 in courtroom

If Alex Rodriguez were as unsuccessful on the baseball field as he proved to be in the legal arena, then no one would care about him in the first place. A-Rod dropped his third and final lawsuit on Thursday, his medical malpractice suit against Yankees doctor Christopher Ahmad and New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Rodriguez’s attorney Alan Ripka and spokesman...

Yankees game 72: Improbable win in walk off fashion

(Photo by Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images) Baltimore Orioles 3 — New York Yankees 5 After eight innings of frustration, a pair of swings from a pair with high expectations walked it off. After Orioles’ starter Ubaldo Jimenez got the first two outs, Jacoby Ellsbury would hit an infield single that the second baseman could not get a good throw on. Ellsbury would steal second and would...

Frankly Frankel: June 21, 2014

The Yankees are getting it together, Vidal Nuno is the worst pitcher in baseball, Rex Ryan needs to shut his mouth, the Cavs shouldn’t touch Joel Embiid with a 50-foot pole, Tony Gwynn leaves us too soon, and my thoughts on the World Cup.  This is Frankly Frankel on this June 21, 2014. I have to start with the New York Yankees who walked-off last night for the first time in 2014...

Still paying us back for unloading Jesse Barfield, the Blue Jays are kind and generous visitors to NYC

They have lost 16 straight games - and 24 of 26 (92 percent) - in Yankee Stadium. When they return in July, they should be welcomed at LaGuardia, showered with free Rolex watches and supermodels - ("Helloooo, Melky!") - toasted on Broadway, feted on Jimmy Fallon, and given a ticker-tape parade along the Canyon of Heroes. They are a boon to the city's tourism industry...
