MLB Injury News:
Right-hander David Phelps was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a slight right forearm strain, manager Joe Girardi said yesterday.

Phelps complained of discomfort in his forearm, and an MRI taken Friday showed the strain. Girardi said the strain is not in the ligament, adding that he anticipates Phelps would begin throwing in 10 days "and we’ll go from there."
"We just felt it was in our best interests," Girardi said. "There were discussions of just skipping him a start, instead of putting him on the DL. (But) we have the All-Star break on our side."
In 12 starts this season, Phelps is 6-5 with a 5.01 ERA. He has 75 strikeouts in 82⅔ innings of work.
Phelps was replaced on the roster by infielder Eduardo Nunez, who was activated from the disabled list yesterday and started at shortstop against the Baltimore Orioles.

It seems strange to see New York Yankees great Derek Jeter in a jersey other than that of the Yankees. The future Hall of Famer recorded his first hit in his rehab assignment with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Yankees fans can breath easy as Jeter will once again be donning the pinstripes sooner than later.

I would tell you that Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado’s amazing throw to first base to throw out Luis Cruz reminded me of Brooks Robinson, but I would be lying, since I never saw Brooks Robinson play. That’s what all the old guys on Twitter were saying. Nevertheless, it is a spectactular play: Yes, had Machado fielded it cleanly it would have been a normal groundout...

He's getting closer. The aging veteran of the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter, had a solid game for the Triple-A Rail Riders. REHAB GOING SWIMMINGLY
If ever you were curious as to how much Alex Rodriguez is despised...there's this. Sunday, while rehabbing for the Class-A Tampa Yankees, A-Rod was hit by a pitch in, of all places, his surgically repaired left hip. And the pitcher who hit him, well, his grandmother was ecstatic. “I think (the New York Yankees star) thinks he’s kind of a hotshot. I don’t care for...

The Orioles' Manny Machado made what might be the defensive play of the year when he bobbled a hard ground ball from the Yankees' Luis Cruz, picked it up about 10 yards in foul territory and rifled the ball to first base for the out.
