Girardi indicated that it’s possible Francisco Cervelli will be activated during the upcoming home stand. He’ll DH tonight and catch again tomorrow. “We’ll see how he’s feeling,” Girardi said.”I’m not saying we’ll make a decision, but he’s doing pretty good.”
This is good news. Even though Cervelli leaves a lot to be desired as an everyday player, he is a decent backup. Right now the Yankees have, or actually haven’t been, using Gustavo Molina as the backup because he’s such a light hitter. With the off-days and rain outs the Yankees have been having it hasn’t been such a big deal, but with Russell Martin coming off of knee and hip surgery he’s going to need plenty of rest.
It seems possible that the Yankees could be rushing Cervelli back, but his foot is supposedly already at 100 percent, he really just needs to get his timing down at the plate because he’s missed so much time. So there is really no r...
