Boston Red Sox 4 — New York Yankees 6


Nick Swisher was in the center of a five home run barrage on the Boston Red Sox in a 6-4 win.


Phil Hughes went 7 solid innings with 4 hits allowed on his 106 pitches. He allowed 4 runs but none of them were earned due to an error by him. On a ground ball, Phil Hughes tried to get the out at second but ended up sending the ball to center field for an error. This error led to a four-run 3rd inning, including a three-run home run by Dustin Pedroia. David Robertson pitched a solid 8th and Rafael Soriano notched his 30th save of the season.


The Yankees offense went off for five home runs in tonight’s win. Nick Swisher, as a right-hander, went deep to start the offense in the 1st inning. Then in the 2nd inning, Curtis Granderson and Russell Martin went back-to-back for a pair of solo home runs. Derek Jeter pulled a Franklin Morales pitch into left field for a solo home run of his home run. Then finally, Nick Swisher, as a left-hander, went deep to complete his highlight game with home runs from both sides of the plate.
