Johnny Damon will have to look somewhere other than the Bronx to continue his MLB career. The New York Post is reporting that Damon contacted the New York Yankees looking for work, but received a blunt reply from Yankees GM Brian Cashman, who has no interest in bringing back Damon.“I told him the truth … he is not the No. 1 option if and when I turn to DH options,” Cashman told reporters.Damon, who is coming off a tenure with the Tampa Bay Rays, hit .261 with 13 home runs last season and is no longer a force at the plate – especially when vying for the designated hitter spot. He signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the Yankees in 2005.New York is reportedly interested in free-agent Raul Ibanez, who hit .245 in 2011 but record 20 home runs and 84 RBIs with the Philadelphia Phillies.
