According to sources, Ibanez is willing to take less to play for the Yankees than he could make elsewhere. The 39-year-old batted .245/.289/.419 with 20 home runs and 84 RBI in 144 games last season for the Phillies. Ibanez will fill the need for another bat to fill in as the part-time DH

The Yankees are getting closer to adding a DH and according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, they are in serious talks with outfielder Raul Ibanez, who would be willing to accept less money to head to the Bronx.
Ibanez, 40-years-old in June, had a lowly .289 OBP and a .707 OPS last season. Against righties, which would be his primary duty with lefty masher Andruw Jones in the mix...

Reports indicate that Johnny Damon is looking for a contract in the $5 million dollar range. I doubt he can score that kind of deal this late in the offseason, so maybe the Mets should see if they could swoop in and sign him to an incentive-laden deal.
