New York scored five times against Brandon McCarthy in the fifth inning to erase a four-run deficit and take a 6-5 lead. Ian Kinsler, though, launched a solo homer in the sixth to forge a 6-6 tie as the Yankees bat in the bottom of the inning. The first seven Yankees reached in the fifth, and the Rangers got a break when Hideki Matsui lined into a double play for the first two outs. McCarthy allowed singles to the Nos. 8 and 9 hitters in the lineup, then walked Johnny Damon and Nick Swisher to bring in the first New York run of the rally. -- Jeff Wilson
