Well, he is arguably the smartest man in baseball, with a BA in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemisty from Yale, so hopefully he will make the right choice, but Craig Breslow is being looked at hard by teams wanting to bolster their bullpen before the break.
The Yankees, the Sox, and the Tigers (although not really), are all looking at Breslow, and why shouldn’t they? He has a career 2.83 ERA and one of the dirtiest repertoires in the league, Fastball, Cutter, Changeup, Curveball and Slurve, all of which are above average.
While the Tiger’s aren’t too serious of a threat, the loss of Brandon Inge at the corner means their energy may be better spent elsewhere, the Yankees and RedSox are.
Now I am all for picking up talent, but we already have it both in our farm system and in the pen, and a move of Breslow at this point would be a mistake. The bullpen has been struggling of late, and Breslow has been one of the only everyday solid options we have had.
