When New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez used to make the headlines years ago it was typically for some amazing feat he pulled off on the ball diamond. However, times have certainly changed and most of his headline stories these days portray him in a negative light. The latest news regarding A-Rod certainly isn’t good for him since he’s been accused of being involved in a new performance-enhancing drug (PED) scandal. In addition, the Yankees are reportedly thinking about voiding his huge multi-million dollar contract because of it. The new PED allegations involve a Miami, Florida based anti-aging clinic which said it supplied banned substances to several Major League Baseball stars such as Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz, Melky Cabrera, and Gio Gonzalez. After he was alleged to be involved, Rodriguez replied by issuing a press statement that refuted the claims. The clinic is called Biogenesis, and reports say that Anthony Bosch, the head of the establishment, has named those players as pe...

Report: Alex Rodriguez Has ‘No Plans’ to Retire, Focused on Rehabbing Hip

Alex Rodriguez is showing plenty of perseverance. Or maybe he just really likes money. Either way, we shouldn’t be so quick to write off A-Rod’s career. Rodriguez has “no plans” to retire from baseball, according to the New York Daily News. Rodriguez had hip surgery earlier this offseason and was already expected to miss a big chunk of 2013, but his future became even cloudier...

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was injected with performance-enhancing drugs as recently as last spring by Anthony Bosch, operator of the now-infamous Biogenesis of America clinic in south Florida, according to an “Outside the Lines” report. The texts, the source said, usually came late at night, telling Anthony Bosch to come to the house. Bosch would...

Alex Rodriguez Personally Injected By Bosch With PEDs

The disturbing allegations of PED usage are just getting worse and more detailed for Alex Rodriguez. By now this story has been covered by almost every angle and in most cases it feels like we are in a space-time continuum that has warped us back to 2005. At this point fans of Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees don’t need to hear an apology, they don’t need to hear agents or PR...

A bombshell investigative report from a Miami newspaper has accused New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez of using performance-enhancing drugs as recently as last season, leading to questions about his immediate future and his lasting legacy. "The news report about a purported relationship between Alex Rodriguez and Anthony Bosch are not true," Rodriguez's...

Alex Rodriguez Accused Of Not Cheating Well

On Tuesday, the Miami New Times reported that Alex Rodriguez had been receiving performance enhancing drugs from a wellness clinic in Miami, Florida. This really blows if you are a New York Yankee fan because that means you have to defend the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship against people that will say it was tainted. It also blows because A-Rod has definitely not been...

Alex Rodriguez Joins Carl Crawford, Albert Pujols on List of Awful MLB Contracts Entering 2013 Season (Photos)

Alex Rodriguez has been making news lately for all the wrong reasons. With a hip issue and now PED allegations to boot, it’s probably safe to assume the Yankees aren’t too thrilled about paying the slugger $114 million over the next five years. Rodriguez’s contract isn’t the only awful one in baseball, though. In fact, there are plenty of terrible contracts floating around...

20/20 Hindsight: Signing Alex Rodriguez after the 2000 season could have altered baseball history

With reports coming this week tying Alex Rodriguez to yet another steroid scandal, now seems like a good time to look back at when the Mets decided to make a run at the then 25-year-old shortstop.  So hop in the DeLorean, and close your eyes because we’re going to rev it up to 88 miles per hour and go back to the year 2000. Open your eyes.  It’s November of the year 2000. ...

A-Rod reportedly received injections from Anthony Bosch

Alex Rodriguez is denying allegations that he received performance-enhancing drugs from Anthony Bosch’s Biogenesis company, but the evidence against him is mounting. On Tuesday, the Miami New Times reported that A-Rod was one of many MLB players who ordered performance-enhancing drugs (in many cases testosterone) from the now-defunct Biogenesis company. Their report was based on...

Understanding the Business of Baseball: Insurance on Player Contracts

The business of baseball is a lot tougher to grasp than the dynamics of “on-the-field” play. As fans, we look at the end result of every decision made. Did he sign? Who did we trade? When was he drafted? Rarely do we get to see what happens behind closed doors. Recently, the injury of Alex Rodriguez has brought about questions regarding the insurance of a player’s contract...

Sports Talk 1240 on WGBB: Hoop Du Jour

It was Super Bowl Sunday on WGBB, but I elected to talk some basketball as Hall of Fame NBA columnist Peter Vecsey joined me. Vecsey was known for his “Hoop Du Jour” column in the New York Post until this past September. He talked about his departure from the paper, what bothers him about today’s NBA and remembered his days as part of the “NBA on NBC” team. After the Ravens...
