Due to injuries the Yankees have signed journeyman catcher Chad Moeller and infielder/catcher Robby Hammock to minor league contracts according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News. They are both expected to start the season in Triple-A Scranton.
Moeller, who played with the Yankees in 2008, was just released by the Baltimore Orioles two days ago. He is expected to take the place of Mike Rivera who is expected to be released after he dealt with a bad hamstring and struggled throughout spring training.
Hammock was signed because he can play both infield corners as well as catch. He will be taking the place of infielder Jorge Vazquez who is expected to open the season on the DL.
