The Yankees have agreed to a minor league contract with right handed pitcher Buddy Carlyle and will invite him to spring training, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post.
Carlyle, 32, made his major league debut in 1999 for the San Diego Padres and most recently for the Braves in 2009. In 104 career games he’s pitched 245.2 innings with a 5.61 ERA. He pitched last season for the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan.
This is strictly a move for the minor leagues. He’ll get a chance to pitch in the big league camp in spring, but that’s merely a formality.
