One day after learning that Brett Gardner would likely miss the rest of the season following next week's
elbow surgery, the Yankees had a scare in Friday night's 3-2 loss to Oakland when Nick Swisher left the
game with a leg injury. Swisher pulled up while running to first on a ground ball in the seventh inning, suffering what the
Yankees called a mild left hip flexor strain. "I got that ground ball to Inge, tried to beat it out and just kind of felt something tug halfway down
the line," Swisher said. "I just kind of let up on it, which was good, because I didn't feel like I really
yanked it. I just kind of felt like I just kind of tugged it. Rather than making it two or three weeks,
hopefully it's only two or three days." Swisher has battled groin, hamstring and quad injuries this season, though he hasn't required a trip to
