It has been reported that the Cleveland Indians are looking to unload Mark DeRosa and his $5.5 million salary. They're looking for an MLB ready pitcher in return.

Today, Buster Olney (hat-tip to MLB Trade Rumors) writes that the Yankees are at considering making a run a the versatile DeRosa:

Imagine Mark DeRosa as a big hunk of tuna, bait on a hook. One of the looming shadows circling below is that of the New York Yankees, who are weighing options and haven't decided whether to take a shot at the versatile veteran.

THOUGHTS:

This year with the Cleveland Indians he's hitting .266/.333/.446 with 8 HR and 32 RBI, and has turned things on after a slow April. This month he's hitting .295/.352/.453 with 3 HR and 14 RBI.

He's a very valuable player to have. He's good offensively and defensively. He can give guys a day off or can come off the bench if you need him to. If the price is right they should go after him. Besides, the Yankees bench is very weak. Not to mention he's a Jersey boy so I don't think he'll mind moving closer to home.
