From Danny Knobler:The Yankees, badly in need of left-handed relief help, have signed veteran Randy Flores to a minor-league deal.
Flores will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by Wednesday.
Flores, who pitched in the big leagues with the Rockies and Twins last year, opted out of a minor-league contract with the Padres last week. He picked the Yankees among four teams that showed interest in signing him, sources said, because of the opportunity they present. The deal with the Yankees also includes an opt-out.According to Joel Sherman, the deal includes an opt-out clause that kicks in if the Yanks don't call him up by the All-Star break.
