For those that stayed up, it may have been the most incredible ending for a marathon game. Not because of some spectacular walk off, but for what may rank as the worst call at the plate in the history of the game. At 6 hours and 38 minutes, Scott Proctor hit into a fielder’s choice, and Julio Lugo headed for home.  Pirates catcher Michael McCenry, who had played all 19 innings, got the ball ahead of the plate.
