You know what really grinds my gears? How Philly fans are portrayed in the media especially on ESPN. OK sure we have thrown snowballs and Santa blah blah but think about it, Mr. Santa Claus needed a reality check, he sits up there on his high horse in the north pole all year and only has to do real work one day a year, and on top that he has the little people do all the real labor work for him. Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have always been hard working physical labor kind of people so when they see a guy who makes the little people do all of his physical labor and works only one day a year, the instinct to pick the first thing in sight up and throw it at him kicks in, this time it just happened to be snow. Seriously though why does the media continue to cover negative stories about Philly fans and not the positive ones. I am a diehard Philly fan and I go to a lot of sporting events and yes we can be harsh sometimes but we know our sports and are very passionate. We know when to give a player a standing ovation or when he needs to be booed. There has been plenty of circumstances where Philly fans have gone above and beyond for players that either play here or are on the visiting team that have not been covered by the ever so great ESPN. If you guys have any stories about these particular time please feel free to post them. I will lead it off with one. How about when Ken Griffey Jr. came to town this year sitting at 599 homers one away from the big 600 and the fans here in Philly were pulling for the guy to hit that milestone. When he flyed out deep to right in his final at bat of the series the Philly fans gave him a standing ovation and Griffey, unsure of what to do, came back out for the typical curtain call that is usually reserved for Chase Utley. Griffey didnt know how to respond and was in utter disbelief of how well the fans here treated him. His quote after the game of how that felt was simply put..."It was awesome." I just want to stress this one more time, Philly fans cheer for the players that play the game right, Ken Griffey Jr., and boo the ones who dont, Barry Bonds.
