Baseball's free agents are getting a taste of what it's like on Wall Street when companies fail to meet expectations... No good ever comes of it, and prices come crashing down... sometimes painfully so. Players and agents went into this off season with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. They are now crawling out of the off season on bended knees taking whatever offer they can get. Okay, maybe that's a little too extreme, but you get the picture. Believe it or not, it was Omar Minaya and the Mets who were the first to identify this new "payroll friendly" environment, after years of being batted down by agent's lofty demands. The K-Rod deal set the stage for what was to come. You can throw away those huge contracts to Burnett, Sabathia and Teixeira. All that showed was that the Yankees ...
