Joseph Dever threw out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies game on Saturday as a representative of Austim Awareness, and it was one of the best first pitch’s of all-time. The kid did a spot-on Brad Lidge impression from when the Phillies won the 2008 World Series. You have to love the showmanship of the kid. He played to the crowd beautifully, and who didn’t enjoy the covering of the mouth while communicating with the dugout? Just awesome. H/T MLB

Anthony Rendon collects first Major League hit, had to carry Jayson Werth's bag home from NY

So here's what we learned after watching Anthony Rendon's post-game interview on MASN Monday night after Rendon collected his first Major League hit and RBI (video here): Anthony Rendon talks fast. Like, really fast.  Here's the video of Rendon's post-game interview on MASN. Go ahead and see for yourself, and try to keep up. Also, when asked if any teammates made...

Video: Nats fans booing Pete Kozma

Up above, a short video of Nationals fans booing Pete Kozma last night in Kozma's return to Washington. Seems the boos were louder for his first AB than in this video clip, but it's the thought that counts. (via YouTube user mimiph) Befriend Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow on Twitter.

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: Young gun discovery

After 10 starts there will be a clearer picture for the Philadelphia Phillies regarding Jonathan Pettibone. Yes, there are plenty of previous examples to peruse for consideration. TAL’S HANDY CAPS WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: By design my articles represent a baseball man’s thinking, the view from the dugout and the GM’s box. Most fans do not consider the budget, prospects on the...

Bryce Harper Will Be The Youngest 50 Home Run Hitter In MLB History

What do Ralph Kiner, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and Jimmie Foxx all have in common? They are in the record books as the youngest players in major league history to dial long distance 50 times in a season. All four players were 24 years of age at the time they accomplished the feat. So if my math serves me correctly 20-year-old Washington Nationals phenomenon Bryce Harper has four...

Is Phillies' window about to shut?

The Philadelphia Phillies will be one of the most-talked-about teams in baseball leading up to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline -- whether they're buying, selling, or doing some of both. Based on their play so far, it won't be a surprise if the Phillies trade veterans for a second straight year. They are 9-13, closer to last-place Miami than first-place Atlanta in the...

Giving Kendrick His Due

One of the toughest aspects of both being a fan and providing accurate analysis is separating perception from reality. Fans tend to anchor their opinions of a player early on, holding steadfastly to that perception even after the player improves or declines. This holds especially true for fans of a specific team, who watch the same players routinely and have difficulty acknowledging...

Mudcats night darkened by Nationals two-run homer

Zebulon, N.C. –Potomac Nationals first baseman Kevin Keyes hit a two-run homer that shattered a light bulb in left field to give Potomac the 2-0 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium. The Nationals held the Mudcats scoreless for the first time this season.  With the offense failing to score, Shawn Morimando suffered the loss for Carolina despite...

Biddle K's 16

Phillies prospect Jesse Biddle struck out 16 last night in a start against Harrisburg. But more importantly, he got two hits. Can this guy play first base?

Gameday: Phillies (9-13) vs. Pirates (12-9)

Philadelphia Phillies (9-13) vs Pittsburgh Pirates (12-9) Cliff Lee (2-1, 2.83) vs. James McDonald (2-2, 4.12) TIME: 1:05, Citizens Bank Park TV: Comcast Sportsnet, home of Phillies Nation TV Weather: 64, sunny Media: Twitter and Facebook Last night was a total bummer. Can it get any better? The offense is a mess, despite both Chase Utley and Ryan Howard going yard against lefties...

Pirates 5, Phillies 3: Not quite what the Doc ordered

Everything was going smoothly. Roy Halladay was locked in on the mound. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard each hit massive solo home runs after being split up in the lineup by manager Charlie Manuel. The Phillies held a 3-1 lead as they handed the game over to the back end of the bullpen just the way they like to have it set up, but Antonio Bastardo and Mike Adams were unable to get the...

Pirates spoil Halladay's outing

Pinch hitter Brandon Inge hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 Wednesday night. Roy Halladay pitched six innings of one-hit ball and Chase Utley and Ryan Howard hit upper-deck solo homers off Wandy Rodriguez, but Mike Adams (1-2) couldn't protect an eighth-inning lead. Pedro Alvarez hit a...

Phillies Make Complaing Easy

*Yuniesky Betancourt, Spring Training 2013 casualty, is now with the Milwaukee Brewers and is batting .279/.795 with 3 HR and 15 RBI.  Instead of releasing him, Amaro should have signed him to a 5 YR/$125M contract.  Don't ya think?!*Ben Revere might be a defensive whiz, but his offense negates any good he does with the glove.  His OPS is .472, which ranks 186th out of 192...

The Phils’ offense wasted Cole Hamels’ third straight quality start as the Phils are shutout by the Bucos, losing 2-0.

The Phils’ offense wasted yet another good performance by Cole Hamels as they dropped one to the Pirates, 2-0. The Pirates broke up a 0-0 pitchers’ due in the top of the fourth as, with a runner on first, and with nobody out, Brandon Inge hits an RBI double, knocking in Neil Walker, who had started the inning off with a single, giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead. The Pirates would...

Which Roy Halladay

I think it's important that the Pirates get a split in this four-game series in Philadelphia and since James McDonald is on the mound tomorrow, tonight might represent their best chance to do it. Wandy Rodriguez takes the mound for the Pirates and he's been excellent in the two full starts that he's made this year, throwing 13 total shutout innings at the Cubs and Braves...
