A young New York Yankee fan threw away a baseball that was handed to him by Yankees manager Joe Girardi during last night's game in Kansas City against the Royals.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Girardi gave the ball to a boy wearing a Yankee hat who was sitting within reach of the Yankee dugout. However, after holding the ball for a second or two, the boy threw the ball away.

What was wrong with the baseball? Was the boy not really a Yankee fan? It's not clear from the video, but what is clear is that the kid clearly did not appreciate Girardi's nice gesture. Next time, kid, say thank you and hold on to the baseball.

D-Rob and Soriano will share Rivera’s job

For years Yankees fans have feared what life would be like once Mariano Rivera wasn’t around any longer and even though he vowed that he would comeback, Rivera is gone now and the Yankees are fortunate to have two very solid options to replace him – David Robertson and Rafael Soriano. One has become one of the top relievers in the game since last season and the other came...

Yanks' Rivera says he will pitch in 2013

This is rich people...

Mariano injury worse than cruelest joke

KANSAS CITY You're joking, right? This wasn't in the script. The script says Mariano Rivera walks away when he's good and ready, and not a minute sooner. And he doesn't walk, either. He sprints like a jackrabbit in spring and leaps straight into the arms of his teammates, who collectively hoist him onto their shoulders one last time. He's waving his cap in the...

Mariano Rivera Can’t Go Out Like This

Love or hate the New York Yankees, you have to admit that Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer of all-time. Rivera, 42, was already putting together what could have been a swan song season to close out his career, as he’s recorded 5 saves in 6 chances, with a 1-1 record and 2.16 ERA. Instead, he could be going out more like a dying duck, as he’ll miss the rest of the season...

Should Mariano Rivera Retire After Torn ACL? (Video)

Mariano Rivera tore his ACL last night in warmups trying to shag a fly ball.  The question on everyone's mind is should he retire?  This has to be a sign right?  I mean he has shagged balls his whole career and he goes down with a torn ACL in his 17th season.  The man is 42 years old and his team finally has a chance to be knocked out of the playoffs after it seems like...

The Yankees Are at a Crossroads

Well, the New York Yankees are at a crossroads. And that was well before Mariano Rivera tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee. I was talking with Mike this week and saying how this Yankee team was in a situation of seriousness. They have a veteran team, aging superstars and aging bench players. Before Jayson Nix and DeWayne Wise were promoted, guys like Andruw Jones and Raul...
