The Mets have made it official with the final cuts of the spring, the Mets have finalized their 25 man roster. The Mets sent down Bobby Kielty and Elmer Dessens while placing Fernando Nieve on waivers. As I've said before Kielty should have gotten a spot but as long as Anderson is on a short rope there's no harm in doing it this way. Nieve will have to clear waivers and accept assignment if the Mets want him....So here is the 2009 Opening Day roster:Rotation Santana, Pelfrey, Perez, Maine, Hernandez ( start the season in the minors ) PenRodriguez, Putz, Green, Feliciano, Stokes, Parnell, O'DayLine-upReyes, Murphy, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Church, Schneider, CastilloBenchCastro, Cora, Tatis, Reed, Anderson and Evans ( till Hernandez is recalled)Pinch-hitting specialist Marlon Anderson and Rule 5 reliever Darren O'Day survived the Mets ' final roster cuts today, according to GM Omar Minaya. source NY Post
