I did a Google Image search for "Diaz and Hamilton". Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. The Red Sox announced the signing of two free agents, infielder Jonathan Diaz and 1B/OF Mark Hamilton to minor-league deals along with an invitation to spring training. Diaz, 26, is a former Blue Jays draft pick from 2006 who has spent the last four seasons in Double and Triple-A. He has posted an on-base percentage of .365 or better three times. Hamilton, 28, is a second-round pick of the Cardinals from 2006. He played 47 combined games in the majors in 2010-2011. In the minors, he has batted .291, with a .385 on-base percentage and .494 slugging percentage. Herald - Red Sox sign two players Yawn!  This is what passes for news on a Saturday morning in early January.  Hope you didn't rush out of bed for this. I can't even pretend to know anything about Diaz or Hamilton.  These signings are so inconsequential, it's not even worth going to Wikipedia to try to dig up any nuggets about them.  But that didn't stop me from doing it.  Strap in folks, you're about to get a whole heaping dose of Diaz and Hamilton.  Wait - Jonathan Diaz doesn't appear to have a Wikipedia page.  He may not be a real person.  Strike one. Luckily, Hamilton not only has a page on Wikipedia, it is chock full with 7 entire sentences detailing his entire existence.  For example, did you know that Mark was born on July 29th in 1984?  I bet you didn't.  Or that he attended Tulane University, where he played college baseball?  Or that he was a first team All-American despite the fact that he missed a lot of games due to a thumb injury? Now you do.  You are very welcome. Rest of the links: WEEI - Sox give Hamilton, Diaz minor league deals | Globe - Elaborating on the Red Sox' upgrade
