Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Outfielder Juan Pierre has agreed to terms on a deal with the Miami Marlins pending a physical, a source confirmed to ESPN. The Sun Sentinel reports the deal is for one year and worth $1.6 million. Pierre, 35, was a member of the Marlins from 2003-05. He spent last season with the Phillies, hitting .307 and stealing 37 bases. ESPN Boston: Source: Juan Pierre agrees to deal with Miami Marlins This is in now way a blockbuster signing, but it is the only notable news around the MLB. I think Pierre is a great outfielder with great speed, especially at the ripe old baseball age of 35. One year and $1.6 million is a pretty good deal for the Marlins and proof they are showing some effort to help that team out. It's not like Juan Pierre is going to carry that team to the playoffs, but it is a responsible signing, much like Cody Ross was for the Sox last season. Maybe a sign that Miami management may actually care about baseball. Maybe. I would have loved to have seen Pierre sign with the Sox, even for $1 million more. Not in lieu of signing Cody Ross, more for filling in the hole in left. Not sure how much Cody Ross' value will rise, if at all, but another outfielder is off the market. We'll just have to wait to see what happens. The only other link: Herald: Cabrera tale far-reaching
