Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. John Lackey has a chance to do something no Red Sox pitcher has done since Carl Mays in 1918. Be the winning pitcher in a World Series-clinching game at Fenway Park.  That bit of Boston history is not lost on the big right-hander from Texas. “It would be awesome,” Lackey said Tuesday afternoon before the Sox’ workout at Fenway Park. “As far as personally, I'm just thinking about executing pitches and trying to win a game.  And hopefully we get to that point.” CSNNE: Lackey has chance to cap magical season The Sox have a chance to clinch a World Series at home for the first time in 95 years. And it all rests on the shoulders of John Lackey.  Saying that sentence aloud and not seeing anyone freak out about it shows how the perception of Lackey has changed this season. He's been our most consistent pitcher throughout the year and after a career of struggles, has finally figured out how to pitch well at Fenway. Tonight, he has a chance to rewrite his history. He knows the pressure of a clinching game since he's been in this spot before. Eleven years and three days ago, he won Game 7 of the 2002 World Series to clinch it for the Angels. He wins tonight, he becomes the first pitcher ever to clinch two titles for two separate teams. He pulls this off and all will be forgiven.  Just Win Today dammit. I don't think this city can handle a Game 7.
