The much anticipated start of Dee Gordon did not take long.

A day after being called to the big leagues, the son of former pitcher Tom Gordon stepped up to the plate as the first player in Tuesday’s game between Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Without missing a beat, Gordon lined one into left field for his first career base hit. It didn’t stop there; Dee would finish the day with three singles, a stolen base and a run scored in the Dodgers’ 6-2 victory over the Phillies.

Another rookie had an important day. Rubby De La Rosa took the hill for the first start of his career, and despite issues with his control, he finished with one run allowed in five innings, enough to earn his second win. De La Rosa walked five and allowed four hits in his victory.

Matt Kemp capped the day with a two-run homer in the eighth, giving him 17 on the year and tying him with Jay Bruce for best in the National League. The two RBI also put him one ahead of Prince Fielder to lead the NL.

Andre Ethier and Casey Blake each had a single, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.

Hiroki Kuroda gets the start for the rubber game Wednesday. The Phillies will send Cole Hamels to the mound.
