Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar was met with boos during his first home game back from a suspension due to an anti-gay slur on his eye black. When the lineups were announced, Escobar was met with a few boos, but many more fans booed during Escobar's first at-bat in the first inning. The Jays suspended Escobar for three games after he wrote a slur on his eye-black in Spanish during a game against the Boston Red Sox. Escobar apologized and said that the eye-black message was meant as a joke. Escobar's lost pay, an estimated $82,000, was donated to GLAAD and You Can Play, an advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender athletes. You Can Play board member David Testo, an openly gay former MLS player, threw the first pitch to Escobar. Before the game, Escobar chatted with Jose Estavez, an openly gay runner from Boston College, and with Patrick Burke, the son of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke and founder of You Can Play. Blue Jays pitcher Chad Jenkins catches line drive, then glove (Video)

Blue Jays rookie pitcher Chad Jenkins made just his second career start on Friday, but he made highlight reels everywhere for his improbable catch. He caught a Curtis Granderson line drive to end the top of the first, but the force of the ball was so strong it knocked off his glove, which he later caught. Take note of this play, because it's not something you see very...

Blue Jays try to spoil Yankees playoff hopes with win

TORONTO -- Though they don't stand to benefit in any way, the Toronto Blue Jays are certainly doing all they can to make sure the battle for the AL East title goes down to the wire. The Blue Jays (70-88) gave up two runs in the first inning but nothing the rest of the way and clawed back to pick up a 3-2 win over the division-leading New York Yankees (91-67) on Saturday afternoon...

Yankees Shut Down By Brandon Morrow In Toronto

The good news: Ivan Nova gave the New York Yankees more innings in this start than in his last.  The bad part: it still wasn’t even five innings of work.  Combine that with a dominant start from Toronto Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow and what do you have? A Yankees shut out loss. The Yankees fell to the Blue Jays tonight by a score of 6-0.  Morrow (9-7) picked up the win,...
