Daily Notes | Alcides Escobar Going Off
Over the last 14 days, Alcides Escobar has been a top ten fantasy baseball player. He has amassed 11 runs, 5 steals, and a .452 average over that time. Is it just a case of a guy getting lucky? Yeah, a little bit. His line drive rate has actually gone down almost 7% this month versus May, but his BABIP has jumped by more than 100 points this month. The average stat isn’t great...

Alcides Escobar: Golden Glove, Brutal Bat
For a season and a half, Kansas City Royals fans were subjected to the fall-down range and errant arm of Yuniesky Betancourt at shortstop. Hoppers hit to his left were all but guaranteed base hits, and booted would-be double play balls gave opponents extra chances to pummel the pitching staff. Those defensive woes were supposed to end in 2011 with Alcides Escobar, picked up from...

Is Escobar best Royals defensive shortstop ever?
It's ridiculously early to ponder this thought, but as we continue to watch Alcides Escobar play spectacularly at shortstop, should we at least consider that he may be the best defensive shortstop to ever wear a Royals uniform?
I posed that question Thursday to Royals radio announcer Denny Matthews -- a pretty good source to serve as a Royals historian.
"Well, it is so darn early...

Is Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar the A.L.’s BEST defensively at the position?
He may have yet to even complete his first full month of the schedule since switching leagues and joining his new team, but in the case of Kansas City shortstop Alcides Escobar, it is already more than justifiable to start a league-wide positional debate:
Escobar has made a seemingly infinite amount of show-stopping, run-preventing, jaw-dropping defensive plays already for the Royals...

Alcides Escobar and Ian Desmond, 2011 Fantasy Sleepers
Alcides Escobar stole 42 bases in 52 attempts in only 109 games in Triple-A in 2009, so what the effin’ eff in the eff hole happened last year? How did he only steal 10 bases in 145 games? Did he mind-meld with Prince Fielder and think he had a four-hundred pound torso? For those of you who have Google, you can see Alcides was a fantasy baseball sleeper last year and he...

2010 Rookie Watch : Alcides Escobar
Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.
In perhaps his greatest pop culture tie-in to date, Batting Stance Guy looks at the stance and the connections to HBO’s “The Wire” (not kidding) for the Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie shortstop, Alcides Escobar. It’s Rookie Watch!

What can we expect from Alcides Escobar?
For better or worse, after Alcides Escobar got even a snippet of exposure with the big club at the tail end of the season, J.J. Hardy’s days as the Brewers starting shortstop were numbered; not surprisingly, the Brewers dealt him in a 1-for-1 swap for CF Carlos Gomez to address another need. To their credit, they likely reaped solid value for Hardy in a position where they...
