OtB Twins Notes: Casilla's mechanics, All Star Cuddyer & scouting changes

Heading into Sunday’s game, Alexi Casilla has hit .352/.420/.465 with six doubles and a triple in his past 83 plate appearances dating back to the Arizona series, and he attributes the current streak on some mechanical changes. Can Alexi Casilla sustain this pace?

It has been quite a turnaround for Alexi Casilla. The often lamented infielder had just 19% of his balls in play become hits in April – which resulted in a pathetic .167/.227/.200 triple-slash – only to break loose offensively since the beginning of May to have 37% of his balls in play turn into hits and posting a .317/.394/.439 slash in that duration. This outburst has put...

Twins Avoid Arbitration With Casilla

Alexi Casilla’s pay is getting almost doubled, as he goes from making $437,500 last year to $865,000 this year. After a couple of subpar seasons offensively, Casilla had a 105 wRC+ last year, though that was in just 170 plate appearances and this is likely just a result of a small sample. Interestingly, Casilla has been plagued by a poor BABIP over the course of his career...

I am in Misery: Injury Updates

It might just be easier to list all of the healthy players on the active roster. Alexi Casilla: Casilla hurt his ankle in a collision at the plate with Cleveland catcher Chris Jimenez in Saturday’s game. An MRI earlier this morning revealed no structural damage, though he does have a bone spur. At this point, Casilla isn’t expected to spend any time on the DL, and...

I Could Hit Cleanup For the Mariners: 31-20

Before we get going, Alexi Casilla was placed on the DL, and Matt Tolbert was called up. Way to ruin my mood with a terribly stupid move, Twins. Best hitter: Delmon (+.172) Worst hitter: Thome (-.091) Best pitcher: Rauch y Guerrier (+.078) Worst pitcher: Frankie (+.050) Most important play: Kotchman double play (+.192)
